The Velis Story

ABOUT

Carlos Velis began his career as a professional painter — the last trade on every job, and the one that can't hide anything. Painters see every seam, every corner, every shortcut someone else took. They learn to see everything.

When Carlos became a licensed general contractor, he built Velis Construction around that eye: start every project the way a painter ends one — with the finish in mind.

Fifteen years later, Velis Construction is still family-owned and family-run. We've stayed deliberately small, because small is how you stay personal. It's how every client gets a direct line to Carlos. It's how nothing gets lost between an office and a job site. And it's how a company earns the kind of reputation that, in a place like Monterey County, follows you into every hardware store and coffee shop.

Our name is on the truck, the estimate, and the work. We intend to keep it worth something.

What We Believe

  • Geometric drawing of an outline square with sections divided by vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines.

    The finish comes first.

We plan every job around how it will look and hold up years from now.

  • Geometric drawing of an outline square with sections divided by vertical, horizontal, and half circle lines.

    Straight answers.

Honest estimates, real timelines, and no surprises.

  • Geometric drawing of an outline square with sections divided by vertical, horizontal, and circle lines.

    Every job matters.

A one-room refresh gets the same attention as a full build.

  • Geometric drawing of an outline square with sections divided by vertical, horizontal, and diagonal lines.

    This is home.

We live here, work here, and build like the neighbors are watching. They are.

“You'll always know where your project stands. If something changes, you hear it from me first. That's how I'd want to be treated in my own home.”
